Centurion Club Switzerland
Surprised to see me struggle with tanks in my spare time? That has nothing to do with militarism or the like. It’s part of my life, because I was a tank commander with the rank of sergeant during my mandatory service in the Swiss Army. And as a professional mechanic, naturally fascinated by technology.
We, the Centurion Club Switzerland, are a museum club with about 200 members. Our goal is to preserve the over 70 years old tank “Centurion Pz55/57” in operational condition for posterity. From the “Cent” (phon: Tschent), as we affectionately call it, we have two identical vehicles from the former stocks of the Swiss Army. I was even a driver on one of them during my military training school. Both of them are in top condition.
From time to time (lately unfortunately not anymore…) we show our vehicles to the public. On our tanks we installed the only SIM-74 systems in the world, which can simulate firing with the help of laser guns. We have used the training system very often during my service and thus trained our crews almost “close to reality”.
