the Nasim II story
near Giannutri island (Italy)
On February 12, 1976, at 04:00 in the morning, the cargo ship Nasim II hit the rock of Punta Scaletta and sank. The wreck of the big ship “Alessandria”, which was on its way to Livorno, lies at a depth of 60 meters on the starboard side on a sandy bottom. Therefore, this is a dive only for experienced divers with proper equipment. The ferry at that time had loaded 50 cars and several trailers when it sank. Some of the cars are lying next to the wreck at a depth of 30-60m. The Nasim II was built in 1959, had a weight of 700t and ran under Panamanian flag.
